Company History
IVX Animal Health, Inc. was created in June 2005 when IVAX Corporation (Miami, Florida), a multinational company engaged in the
research, development, manufacturing and marketing of branded and generic pharmaceuticals for human health, acquired Phoenix
Scientific, Inc., the largest manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals for the US animal health market. IVAX merged Phoenix
Scientific with DVM Pharmaceuticals, IVAX’s wholly owned animal health subsidiary specializing in topical dermatologicals and
nutraceuticals for companion animals. Upon its creation, IVX Animal Health became one of the 10 largest animal health companies
in the United States and an industry leader in the manufacture of generic and value-added pharmaceuticals as well as the marketing
of a premier line of proprietary dermatologicals and nutraceuticals under the DVM Pharmaceuticals brand.
In January 2006, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., a global pharmaceutical
company specializing in the development, production and marketing of human generic and proprietary branded pharmaceuticals as well
as active pharmaceutical ingredients, acquired IVAX Corporation, creating one of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies in the world
and the leading generic pharmaceutical company. Working closely with Teva’s existing animal health resources located in Canada
(Novopharm) and Israel (Abic, Ltd.), IVX Animal Health expects to establish a prominent position in the worldwide animal health
market.
IVX Animal Health and its skilled workforce are headquartered in St. Joseph, Missouri, with additional manufacturing and distribution
facilities in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
